Addiction recovery center opens in Hagerstown

Herald-Mail Media recently  covered Awakenings Recovery Centers’ grand opening.

Frank Biden spoke in Hagerstown Thursday, but he didn’t talk about politics, instead he talked about recovering from addiction.

Biden is a recovering alcoholic, sober for 23 years.

Many government and civic leaders, attended the grand opening, including Hagerstown City Councilwoman Emily Keller, who said the facility “is desperately needed in this community.”

Another speaker, Vickie Sterling, Washington County Health department’s director of behavioral health, said the Amatus staff is “people we need on our team” of resources in the community.

Biden urged those in the crowd to stay involved in helping people recover.
